Description of Services: |
Advocates for the needs of, and provides information to survivors of brain injuries, their families and support network * facilitates measures to promote the prevention of brain injury, improves quality of care/life, provides community education, and conducts resource searches on behalf of the members * offers information about acquired brain injuries (ABI) services in Peel and Halton * Helmets on Kids - education about safety, prevention and brain injury awareness to elementary school students * volunteer opportunities available ABI Support Groups: meet and discuss common issues and problems * learn more bout living with ABI * guest speakers of varying disciplines related to brain injury, rehabilitation, health and other topics of interest * provide recreational and social activities Headspin - Young Adult Support Group: this group has been designed for high functioning youth and young adults with an ABI or for individuals who present with similar challenges * the group is centered around community-based leisure activities and encourages social connections * members pay a fee for each activity depending on its cost Peer Support Program: available for those who are living with an ABI, and allows them to connect to an individual who has lived through a similar life experience involving an ABI * the mentor will provide their guidance and knowledge based on their own life experience involving Acquired Brain Injury, to an individual who is coping with a similar ABI-related situation * free for all participants Caregiver Relief Program:
