Description of Services: Settlement Team offers

Information and Orientation Services
  • assistance with correctly interpreting and filling out government and other formal documents including applications for Canadian landed status and citizenship, supportive housing, pension forms, and other government benefits, such as child tax benefits, social insurance numbers, Ontario health insurance
  • help with translation and interpretation of formal documents
  • referral to other community supports and services
  • personal supportive counselling and help with making community connections
  • employment/career counselling, labor market information and job search supports
  • Commissioner of Oaths services for endorsing or attesting of formal documents, including landing papers, passports, marriage, and education certificates. Clients must show proper supporting documents and identification


Programs

Immigrant Women Pre-employment Program: for women who are interested in entering or re-entering the local job market. It offers job search skills coaching and personal pre-employment supports to help women connect with job opportunities in line with their professional backgrounds, employment skills and career objectives

Pre-employment / Labor Market Access Program: supports that enable clients in achieving employment success in line with their professional and career goals and objectives. Supports begin with a career needs assessment and the creation of a short-term action plan that guides clients to employment and career success

Settlement Workers in Schools Program (SWIS): operates as a partnership, “Multicultural Settlement and Educational Partnership”, (MSEP) comprising the two local regional school boards, the Dufferin, Peel, Catholic School Board (DPCDSB) and Peel Dufferin School Board (PDSB) and a number of regional Settlement and community support agencies, including Malton Neighbourhood Services. settlement. Offer supports and services to newcomer and other immigrant students and their families, mainly serve schools in Malton
