First Link- Alzheimer Society Peel
First Link is a referral program that will link individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia to a community of learning, services and support.
First Link will provide access for individuals with dementia and their caregivers to comprehensive and coordinated services by identifying and reaching out to them as early as possible in the disease process. Click here for more information.
Vulnerable Person Registry
The Vulnerable Person Registry is a voluntary service offered in Peel and Halton Regions that allows a family member and/or caregivers of vulnerable persons to submit critical information to Regional Police Services that may be used during an emergency situation. Information collected may include emergency contact information, detailed physical descriptions, known routines and the special needs of this individual. This information will assist officers in communicating with, attending a residence of or dealing with an emergency involving this individual.
A Vulnerable Person is defined as a person who due to a medical, mental health or physical condition, may exhibit patterns of behaviour that may pose a danger to themselves or to others. This could include; an inclination to wander, the inability to communicate, fascinations or attractions (water, construction sites, etc.) and social responses (fear of strangers, aggression).

Project Lifesaver equips individuals who have a history of wandering with a one-ounce wrist-transmitter that emits a radio tracking signal 24/7 within a two kilometre radius. Should the individual go missing, the wrist transmitter allows specially trained law enforcement officers to track the individual.
